Installation Note 47256: SASĀ® 9.2 installation and hot-fix jobs on z/OS version 1.12 or 1.13 might end with a system 800 completion code
Under z/OS version 1.12 or 1.13, some SAS 9.2 installation and hot-fix jobs might fail and return a system 800 abend. This problem occurs if both of the following conditions are true:
- The processor is zHPF-capable.
- You have specified SAM_USE_HPF(YES) in your system parmlib member IGDSMSxx. This is the default value for z/OS 1.13. In z/OS 1.12, the default setting is SAM_USE_HPF(NO).
This problem does not occur in SAS 9.3, due to changes in the installation process.
To circumvent this problem, you can do either of the following:
- Disable zHPF using the system command SETSMS SAM_USE_HPF(NO).
- Change DISKUNIT='xxxx' to DISKUNIT='RIO' in the MKSASINS job associated with your installation or hot fix. This requires that you invoke the installation or hot-fix process using the -nojobsubmit option.
APAR OA39935 is open for IBM for this problem. At this time, IBM has a temporary fix available for this problem that you can request from IBM. The APAR will be updated when a permanent fix is available.
